4 MIDWEEK SEPTEMBER 7, 2022
            GMy Favorite Things
AP PHOTO/FILE
Sharing a meal with no phones on the table Strong Wi-Fi connection that I get from my cable A nice little stack of some Buffalo wings These are a few of my favorite things.
Hand-written letters that come in the mail Our dogs, Buddy and Wilson, wagging their tails Hearing our son strumming ‘ukulele strings These are a few of my favorite things.
Watching our daughter perform hula on stage
Whenever my eyes with my wife’s do engage Our lauhala weave golden wedding band rings These are a few of my favorite things.
When the nation fights
When our words sting
When I’m feeling sad
I simply remember my favorite things And then I don’t feel so bad.
What’s your favorite day of the week?
rowing up, one of my favor- ite movies was The Sound of Music. I had a wicked crush
on Julie Andrews (pictured at right), and to this day, I still do. And her icon-
ic song from the movie, My Favorite Things, cheers me up whenever I hear it.
Here’s my own version and you tell me if this doesn’t make you feel good:
MELISSA KALAHIKI

“Wednesday. It’s the best day for happy hour and halfway to the weekend.”
MICHAEL LIM

YVONNE JARAMILLO AHEARN

RJ CARDENAS

          Quiet Quitting
“Quiet quitting” is a term and a trend that has emerged recently, and is embraced by some of the younger generation. It means that one does the bare minimum of what the job requires, no more and no less. Our generation’s work ethic is to do more than is asked of us. Though you might not see quiet quitting as relating to you, are you, in some way, consciously or unconsciously,
  “quiet quitting” on yourself?
Have you stopped being curious and trying new
things, or stopped looking to learn, grow and ex- pand? I have seen many whose spirits have basically resigned. Though life is not easy, it is resplendent in myriad ways. Make the effort to keep awe, curiosity and wonder an intrinsic part of living. Let’s not ever quiet quit on ourselves.
