Of note is the June 8 event, which will feature Punahou grad Sarah Hicks as conduc- tor. Back in the day, Hicks was a Youth Talent Pool winner (the former name of the Nā Hōkū ‘Ōpio “Young Stars” program) a couple of times over and was able to play with the then-Honolulu Symphony as a piano soloist.
What’s more, Hicks re- members playing Gersh- win’s Piano Concerto as a youth, and will also be con- ducting a weekend of Gersh- win June 11-12 for the series.
