     The first Waikīkī Spam Jam took place in 2003. The SJ Foundation, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation, as- sumed the planning for the food and entertainment event to celebrate Hawai‘i’s love of Spam products and give back to the community. The foun- dation is made up of a vol- untary board of directors and committee.

Over the years, Waikīkī Spam Jam has followed through with its mission: pre- senting a street festival that typically attracts more than 30,000 visitors and local res- idents to Kalākaua Avenue. In 2019, the event raised more than $35,000 in donations and 25,000 pounds of food.
