at Helemano Farms. We went to select our Christmas tree and were greeted by a young man named Leighton. He was so welcoming, thoughtful and courteous throughout our vis- it. I was especially impressed with his customer service and I want him to know that he really made our visit mem- orable. His parents should be proud and commended as well for raising such a polite young man. Helemano Farms should know too that they real- ly scored with this employee! Mahalo, Leighton, and Merry Christmas!

Thank you for your letter, Denise. It’s so nice to hear about wonderful young people like Leighton who are spreading holiday cheer to all they meet. I’m sure He- lemano Farms knows they have a “Santa’s helper” in Leighton.
Last month, we were at Enterprise car rental at The D in Las Vegas to get our rental car and started chatting with the group ahead of us because we were all told that, despite
she must be from Hawai‘i just from the aloha she showed. The group ahead said they had two reservations and of- fered to give us one of theirs, since I had mentioned I had an important appointment I had to get to. I think they had to wait until the afternoon to get their car as it wasn’t available ei- ther, but a sedan was. A million thanks to her and her group for giving up that reservation to us and I hope they weren’t inconvenienced. I’m a firm be- liever that good deeds do get noticed so she will be blessed. I will also “pay it forward” to someone in need or maybe just because. Thank you!

Dear Joy,
The aloha spirit is alive and being spread even on the Ninth Island! It’s so heartwarming to hear of people helping people and I am so glad you were able to experience the kindness and generosity from this ‘ohana.
I went through the drive-th- ru at one of the restaurants and the vehicle ahead of me was the same make, model, year
looked up, the car had received their order and drove off. I did not get to even acknowledge the kindness. May God bless that individual for sharing the aloha during this pandemic.
Scott Schroeder ‘Ewa Beach
Dear Scott,
I love this drive-thru trend happening across our state. It’s just another example that our community is work- ing together to “aloha” one another, even if they are a stranger. Although, if we all sat down to write out a “Ha- wai‘i’s degrees of separation tree,” we may realize that we just helped our auntie’s sister’s half-brother’s uncle who married our cousin’s former co-worker’s mom. And here in our islands, that’s also known as ‘ohana.
