George Clooney has produced and directed The Tender Bar, a coming-of-age tale about a boy who bonds with the patrons at his uncle’s bar. It will have a short theatrical release on Dec. 17, before hitting Amazon on Jan. 7. It stars Clooney’s friend Ben Afflffleck as the uncle to this actor of
X-Men fame.
Stand-up comedian Jo Koy is coming to Honolulu with three shows slated for Thanksgiving weekend at Neal S. Blaisdell Arena (as of press time, tickets were still available). Koy has appeared on several shows like Inglorious Pranksters, Metal Shop Masters and an E! network late-night show, which is where he bonded with this fellow comedian who is now his girlfriend.
During the recent DC FanDome event, excited comic book buffs got their first glimpses at Dame Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu as villains in the upcoming Shazam: Fury of the Gods; as well as Jason Momoa’s new Aquaman suit. However, it was this former Hawai‘i resident
who caused a splash with a first look at his anti-hero movie, Black Adam.
Released in October 2000, Bedazzled remains a funny remake of the 1967 film starring Dudley Moore and Raquel Welch. In the updated comedy, the storyline revolves around a prankish devil (Elizabeth Hurley), who exploits a geeky man (Brendan Fraser) by giving him seven wishes to either win the affection of his coworker or lose his soul. To fit her sleek and sassy style as hell on wheels in the movie, Hurley drives around in this devilishly hot automobile.

Bring the Modern Prometheus to life this week — and get a charge just in time for Halloween — by celebrating the classic novel Fran- kenstein. Released in 1818, the book has spawned many creations, including more than 60 movies, and made Frankenstein ‘s monster one of the best-known horror characters of all time.
