SEPTEMBER 15, 2021 MIDWEEK 15
    Laughter Returns To The Plaza
W e often share about the upcoming events in Vegas and have been getting several questions about what it’s ac- tually like attending events at Ninth Island venues. Attending shows, concerts and sporting events was something that we did almost weekly pre-pan- demic, so it’s no surprise that we were beyond thrilled when
concerts may be the way to go. Guns N’ Roses at Allegiant Stadium was our first indoor event with mask requirements (they can removed when ac- tively eating or drinking). Al- legiant Stadium does seem to be stricter than other venues in regard to what comes into the stadium, so leave your purse, bag and fanny packs in your
Theater in Planet Hollywood also required masks. Although we didn’t observe security monitoring this, the majority of people complied unless ac- tively drinking. This was the first performance for the band in 18 months, and they repeat- edly expressed how happy they were to be back on stage. As excited as we were to attend events, the performers them- selves were equally, if not more, thrilled to be entertain- ing crowds once again.
legends like Frank Sinatra once performed, also requires masks (unless eating/drink- ing). With the spacing of ta- bles and booths, it was easy to feel safe and comfortable. Of course, once Hawai‘i’s own Augie T. began his hilarious comedy bit, COVID concerns were replaced by laughter, cheers and applause. With an audience filled with former Hawai‘i residents, Augie’s fa- miliar local-style comedy was long overdue for many Ninth Islanders. He performed Sept. 3-5, and will return every four months to bring much-needed laughter to his Vegas fans.

the shows began to return. Two notable events were Augie T. performing at The Plaza’s Showroom and One Republic at Zappos Theater in Planet Hollywood. The current mask mandate in Clark County is that all individuals, regard- less of vaccination status, must wear masks in indoor public places. For Kolohe Kai/Iration, the event took place outdoors, so masks were optional. Most chose not to wear them; how- ever, the spacious venue made it easy to social distance. For those hesitant to attend events in a large indoor arena, outdoor
