     Island Insurance Founda- tion, which was founded in 2003, is the charitable arm of Island Insurance Co.
Because of their support, we’ve grown into one of the largest locally owned property and casualty insurance companies here in Hawai‘i, and we wanted to make sure we give back to them. Because of that support, Island Insurance is one of the top 50 P&C insurers in the nation; so again, it’s amazing what this community does.”
$300,000 to groups providing educational enrichment, and $300,000 in funding to arts and cultural organizations.
Its president, Dana Tokioka, stresses that the foundation is the way for the company to give back to the community that has supported it since the beginning.
Another major initiative of the foundation is its annual Masayuki Tokioka Excellence in School Leadership Award, which recognizes outstanding public school principals. The award was established in hon- or of its namesake — a public school graduate and founder of Island Insurance Co.
$25,000, of which $10,000 goes to the recipient and $15,000 to their project.
