AUNTY HELEN’S WONTONS
Ingredients:
• 1 can Spam
• 2 stalks green onions
• 1 can water chestnuts
• 1 egg
• 1 pack wonton wrappers, about 25 • 4 cups vegetable oil, for frying
• 1 cup water
Directions:
Cube Spam. Dice green onions. Drain water from water chestnuts and dice into small pieces. Put ingredients into bowl. Crack raw egg in bowl, knead and
fold until mixed. Take spoonful of mixture and place on 1 wrapper. Using back of spoon, dip it in bowl of water.
Rub along edge of wrap to moisten. Fold wrapper in half and seal edges, making sure there are no openings. Continue same process until finished.
In deep pot, add vegetable oil and heat to 350 degrees. Place wonton in heated oil. Do not overcrowd pot. When browned, turn wonton over, making sure both sides are cooked to brown in color. Place finished wonton on cooling rack or paper towel on plate.
