In April, Amos appeared completely naked on camera during a House of Commons proceeding, explaining later that he was changing in his office after going for a run and was sure that he had disabled his cam- era. On May 26, Amos had to apologize again — this time for urinating “without realiz- ing I was on camera.”

Don’t Be Cruel
In Palm Beach Coun- ty (Florida) Circuit Court, Judge Jeffrey Dana Gillen on May 28 rejected a “stand your ground” defense in the animal cruelty case of PJ Ni- laja Patterson, 43, who killed an iguana in September, and ordered him to stand trial, The Washington Post reported.
Patterson’s lawyer argued that the iguana had “leaned forward with its mouth wide open and showing its sharp teeth,” and that Patterson was bitten on his arm, need- ing 22 stitches. He believed the iguana could inject poison into him, his lawyers wrote, so he kicked the iguana, and “an altercation between Pat- terson and the wild beast took place.” However, prosecutors say that Patterson’s actions, caught on surveillance vid- eo, showed that he “savagely beat, tormented, tortured and killed” the 3-foot-long lizard in an attack that lasted for 30 minutes, during which the an- imal suffered a lacerated liv- er, broken pelvis and internal bleeding.
Patterson’s next court date is July 30.

Party Crashers
Two teenagers on their way home from a graduation party in the early hours of May 23 made the night even more memorable when their car crashed into the roof of a home in Eureka, Missouri, outside St. Louis.
Authorities told KSDK-TV that the driver lost control, rolled down an embank- ment, flipped over a fence and crashed front-end first into the master bathroom of the home. Startlingly, there were no injuries from the crash; the two teens escaped through the master bedroom, and two occupants of the home, who were sleeping at the time, were unharmed.
