Our next hurdle was to get the appliances hooked up. We needed an electrician and plumber. Ernie’s wife, Mel- anie, called their neighbor, Matt Rodrigues, who did the job for free! In less than three months, Lehua Elementary got a functioning washer and dryer; it would have taken a year to go through the state’s procurement process.
