Biz Scholarships Are Now Available
Women from Leeward O‘ahu can apply until July 31 for the 2022 Zonta Inter- national Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholar- ships, sponsored by the Zon- ta Club of Leilehua.
676 scholarships, totaling more than $1.6 million to 522 women representing 66 countries.
The scholarships, first awarded in 1998, are open to women enrolled in at least the second year of an under- graduate program through the final year of a master’s program in business, leading to a business management career.
According to Zonta mem- ber Karen Foissotte, while women have made great strides in the pursuit of ed- ucation, careers and lead- ership roles, they still make up a minority of leaders in thebusinessworld.Foissotte states that as of December 2020, 21.2% of Standard and Poor’s500companies’board seats are occupied by wom- en, and just 6% of the com- panies’ CEOs are women.
There is a $1,000 club scholarship and Zonta Inter- national offers 37 scholar- ships of $5,000 worldwide. Since the program’s begin- ning, Zonta has awarded
