Mural At Pearl City Credit Union Marks World Ocean Month

Hickam FCU will make a donation to Hung’s Artists Save Waves nonprofit orga- nization. In return, Artists Save Waves will provide a donation to Sustainable Coastlines Hawai’i.
Commemorating World Ocean Month, Stephanie Hung unveiled her latest mural on June 7 in coopera- tion with Sustainable Coast- lines Hawai‘i at Hickam Federal Credit Union’s main branch at 1260 Kuala St. in Pearl City. Hung is an envi- ronmental “artivist” (artist plus activist), and founder of Artists Save Waves.
The unveiling also co- incided with the launch of Hickam FCU’s Cards with a Cause campaign. It includes the rollout of five credit and debit card designs created by Hung, and supports the mis- sion of Artists Save Waves and Sustainable Coastlines Hawai‘i.
“For the See the Light mu- ral unveiling plan, we were fortunate to have help along the way from Brilhante Pic- ture Framing, artist Thomas Deir acting as a mentor to the team, and Chromaco that has helped with hanging the mu- ral, and also with the plans to sell and donate prints of See the Light to continue to raise awareness and funds to support the charity,” states Hickam FCU president and CEO Scott Kaulukukui.
The triptych (divided into three sections) mural titled See the Light raises aware- ness about protecting Ha- wai‘i’s ocean and land.
