The local theater com- munity turned out for the public memorial for the late William Dennis Carroll last month. Carroll, a pro- fessor emeritus at Univer- sity of Hawai‘i at Mānoa’s Department of Theatre + Dance, spent more than four decades encouraging students to write plays and create productions. He was also a founding member of Honolulu’s Kumu Kahua Theatre.
The memorial service took place at UH-Mānoa’s Kennedy Theatre
on Nov. 27 to co-
incide with the first anniversary of his passing. He died in Hono- lulu on Nov. 25, 2021, at the age of 81.
