“The Discovery Center was built on a legacy of love for Hawai‘i’s children,” says Liane Usher, the center’s president. “Our founder, Loretta Yajima, was an advocate for families and the education of young chil- dren. She believed in the power of play and the importance of empowering children at a young age to dream big and become lifelong learners.”
The Children’s Discovery Center was first founded in 1989 as the Children’s Muse- um of Arts, Culture, Science and Technol- ogy by Yajima. Her vision was to create a place where children could learn through play and families could spend meaningful time together.
