Waimānalo Earth Day Cleanup Breaks Hawai‘i State Record
Sustainable Coastlines Hawai‘i broke its record for largest cleanup this past Earth Day at Waimānalo Beach
Park with the support of 40-plus local organizations and more than 2,000 volunteers. Over 2,500 pounds of debris were removed from the Waimānalo coastline, 50 native plants were planted to restore Native Hawaiian cultural site Muliwai‘ōlena and around 2,000 pounds of heavy metal debris were removed from a nearby illegal dumping site. Participants enjoyed live music by Hirie and other artists from youth support-focused nonprofit Mana Maoli, free food, games and various educational workshops and booths hosted by nonprofits and local organizations.
