    Aloha surfers and beachgoers, November is of- ficially in full swing with the biggest swells of the year coming as of this writ- ing. Plus, contests are start- ing to kick in, too.

Wave Riders Are Super Stoked About Surfing Events

Mamiya is just 22 years old but won Sunset before.
Bryan is also star-level talent. She was the 2022 WCT Rookie of the Year.
This “anti-contest” surf contest was for foam boards only. The fun was maximum, the rules minimum.

He was also a 2022 World Championship Tour stand- out, so he brought a lot of confidence to the contest. He can surf anything from maxing out at Pipeline to 12 footers at Sunset. If he plays his competitive prowess properly, he could make top five in 2023.

Foam Wreckers was the brainchild of pro surfer and foam board fanatic Jamie

day was super fun, so stoked to get some good waves.”
Now, to a different kind of contest. The Red Bull Foam Wreckers presented by Catch Surf kicked off Nov. 5 at Sandy Beach with solid 4-foot grinders. The parking lot and beach were packed by 6:30 a.m. and the event was off the hook.
“It’s the most official, nonofficial surf contest in the world,” O’ Brien says. “It’s all about having fun and enjoying yourself, win or lose.”
