JUNE 22, 2022
    Aloha surfers and beachgoers,
The Local Motion Hawai‘i Surf Into Summer at Ala Moana Bowls had to contend with 2 feet maxi- mum the entire weekend of June 11-12. Yet, hundreds of surf folks had plenty fun. For decades, the SIS event was the official kickoff to our summers in paradise. Plus, the SIS was the largest amateur competition in the state at its peak.

The first course went straight out and back in at Sunset Beach with more than 500 participants. That’s a scene to behold. Big mahalos also to Aloha Sal- ads for supporting.
The World Championship Tour is in El Salvador for event No. 7 out of 11. It had not been able to start at the time of this writing due to poor conditions but they’ ve got a good forecast. I’ ll have the latest at surfnews- network.com.
The first withdrawal was Hawai‘i’s very own Seth Moniz with an unspecified knee injury.
