May ended with a booming high surf advi- sory swell. It’s pretty cool that the month of May start- ed that way, too: pumping! Indeed, May delivered four separate episodes leading to about three weeks worth of really good surf — meaning, most the month we scored.

Brewer was born in Min- nesota in 1936. He then head- ed west to Long Beach when he was 3 years old. He started surfing in 1952 and started shaping around 1959.

Remembering Iconic North Shore Surfboard Shaper
