Community Comes Together For Earth Day Sunrise Chant
On Earth Day (April 22), nonprofit Kanu Hawai‘i performed E Ala Ē, a Hawaiian chant. Throughout the state, groups gathered together at sunrise to take part in the sacred act. E Ala Ē, which translates to “awaken to rise,” was led by Hawaiian elders, nonprofit directors, teachers and cultural practitioners from every island.
