Central O‘ahu, North Shore Teams Excel In Robotics Contests
Teams from the North Shore and Central O‘ahu are making big strides in robot- ics this year.
Space Grant Consortium oversees the Hawaiʻi VEX Robotics Competitions with funding through the Univer- sity of Hawaiʻi Foundation. Expanded opportunities for space education through the efforts of the Hawaiʻi Space Grant Consortium have been focused on the public, par- ticularly teachers and stu- dents in grades kindergarten through 12.

    Sponsored by Hawaiian Electric, the Hawaiʻi VEX Robotics Middle and High School State Champion- ships were held Feb. 19-20 at Kamehameha Schools Kapālama.
Advancing to the world championship from April 25 to May 4 in Dallas, Texas, are two teams from Waia- lua High and Intermediate School and the Mililani Mechs team, an independent group comprised of middle school students from public and private schools in Mil- ilani. At the middle school competition, Waialua High and Intermediate School captured the Tournament Champion Award. Mean- while, at the high school competition, Waialua High and Intermediate earned the VEX Excellence Award.
