SPCA offers weekly adop- tion events all around the is- land and meet-and-greets at the shelter by appointment.
The 501 (c)(3) organiza- tion continues to treat and find forever homes for ani- mals like Buddha the bull- dog.
“We are excited to an- nounce that the O‘ahu SPCA will be able to provide these public veterinary services seven days per week in the coming months,” Hudson says. “When we first started, we could only offer services two days per week. With the support of the community, we have been able to ex- pand our services for pets.
Two upcoming adoption events near Central O‘ahu include from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 22 at Petco in Pearl City, and from 10 a.m. to noon Oct. 29 at Raising Cane’s Pearl City.
Its central Wahiawā loca- tion makes the no-kill orga- nization closer to the many stray animals outside urban Honolulu.
“In addition to steriliza- tion and emergency ser- vices, we offer affordable wellness visits for com- munity pets at our clinic in Wahiawā, and we visit the Petcos all across the state with our low-cost vaccine clinics,” Hudson elaborates.
On top of rescuing thou- sands of animals per year and caring for thousands of pets across the island, O‘ahu SPCA also considers itself “a community center where people can come to volunteer and learn about compassionate care for an- imals,” Hudson adds.
Besides providing ser- vices to nearby communi- ties, it has also expanded services to offer accessibil- ity to all residents on O‘ahu.
To become involved in its work of rescuing, rehabil- itating and rehoming ani- mals, community members can adopt, foster, volunteer and donate.
