O‘ahu physician Dr. William McKenzie re- tired from private practice on Sept. 1.
Wahiawā General Hospital sponsored McKenzie on Sept. 17, 1979, when he ar- rived to O‘ahu from Sherman, Texas.
He was asked to come to Hawai‘i so he could help provide much-needed obstetri- cal and gynecological care to the Wahiawā area.
During that time, fellow Drs. Norber- to Baysa and Salvador Cecilio, and others helped him quickly acclimate to the island lifestyle.
A graduate of University of Texas Medi- cal Branch at Galveston, 80-year-old McK- enzie has been a practicing physician for the last 42 years in Hawai‘i.
“I have lots of really good memories,” McKenzie says.
He notes that being able to share in
