Mililani Community Goes ‘Green’ With Recycling At School

Members of the commu- nity turned out for a Going Green e-waste, recycling and clothing drive held May 22 at Mililani Mauka Ele- mentary School.
“There are lots of things, items that can be reused, re- cycled and upcycled, and we all just need to do what we can to take care of our envi- ronment and our communi- ty,” she adds.
The annual one-stop drop- off effort, hosted by princi- pal Avis Nanbu, returned to the school with help from campus volunteers.
This year, donations of lightly used clothes were collected for a school fund- raiser in partnership with United Cerebral Palsy of Hawai‘i.
Among those who vol- unteered at the socially distanced event were Wen- dy Kalani, along with her husband William, daughter Sanoe and niece Kaimana James Stovall.
Going Green events take place periodically across O‘ahu.
