Meanwhile, Elena’s Restaurant’s eatery is located at 94-866 Moloalo St., No. D4A in Waipahu.
Theo and Elena Butuyan started the com- pany back in 1974 at the Old Nabarette Store in Waipahu. They retired in 2002 and their children, Mililani residents Mellissa Cedillo, her husband, Adrian, and her brother, Rich- ard Butuyan, now own and operate the busi- ness.
Originally from Pangasinan, Philippines, the family immigrated to Hawai‘i in 1969.
“My mom majored in home economics in the Philippines,” explains Mellissa. “When she came to the USA, she wanted to offer Filipino dishes to the people of Hawai‘i.
