Mililani mom Karen Gib- son has written a book titled One Hundred Parenting Tips Inspired by the Pandemic.
“Raising happy, healthy and resilient children is a challenge, even under the most normal circumstanc- es. During the global pan- demic, the obstacles parents face can grow tenfold, caus- ing stress, frustration and worry,” Gibson says.
“I’ve interviewed more than 45 guests ranging from mental health profession- als, a principal, a mom of 10 kids, a mom who home- schooled her daughter, as well as a grieving mom who lost her daughter a month before giving birth to her second daughter. I also re- cently started posting Mom Meditations that I record for stressed moms who need a few minutes to release neg- ative emotions,” Gibson de- clares. “95.5 FM The Fish airs Monday Mom Moments (45-second tips).”
She explains that she chose to author it after re- ceiving questions from parents about conquering distance-learning challeng- es, and found many parents were struggling with signif- icant stress, sleepless nights and often frustrating argu- ments with their obstinate children.
In this book, Gibson ex- plains how to express emo- tions effectively without suffering from mental melt- downs and a myriad of other subjects.
“As a private tutor of Brain Builders since 1999, I’ve helped students learn different strategies that aren’t taught in the class- room,” Gibson explains. “Study skills, time man- agement, speed reading and test-taking techniques aren’t usually part of a school’s common core curriculum,” she adds.
The new composition is Gibson’s second book, as she previously published Mama’s Gotta Let Go: How to Let Go without Losing Your Sanity.
So, Gibson decided to re- cord daily parenting tips to support guardians and post- ed them on her YouTube channel “Letting Go with Aloha.” After she recorded 100 days, her daughter sug- gested that she turn these
