Denim Day stems from an Italian Su- preme Court case that sparked international outrage when a judge overturned a lower court’s conviction of a rapist. The victim wore tight jeans, so the judge ruled that she must have helped her attacker remove them, thus implying consent. The next day, women in the Italian Parliament went to work wear- ing jeans to show solidarity with the victim.
