As a little girl growing up in Vietnam, Nina Thai would often help her mom and aunty, who were seamstresses. She also worked as a model, and through her family background and fashion experience, quickly realized a passion for creating and designing.

In 2005, she moved to Hawaii and was immediately inspired by the island’s beauty, culture and people. In 2010, she decided to pursue her dream and opened Angels by the Sea Hawaii, a boutique in the Waikiki Beach Marriott (2552 Kalakaua Ave.).

“I wanted a place where I can express my passion through my design featuring Hawaii’s beautiful nature and culture,” explains Thai on starting her business. “I always have been wanting to share this beauty with as many people as possible from all over the world and to smile with them, helping them become angels.”

The store carries a great selection of women’s clothing, handbags, jewelry and accessories, including original Angels by the Sea designs and other popular brands and local designers. There also is a nice variety of beauty products and home decor items.

“Without Hawaii, I would never have been able to pursue my dreams and passion,” adds Thai. “I am so grateful for the people I’ve met here and the beauty I see every day, which continues to inspire me as I look to the future.”
