Y. Hata celebrated 100 years in the Islands with a gala party Feb. 9 at Hilton Hawaiian Village. Russell Hata, third-generation leader of the food service wholesaler, re-established the once-struggling family business among the leaders in the statewide industry. The gala evening honored Y. Hata’s 200 employees, who have been critical to the company’s turnaround and survival.
