Windward Nominees To Military Colleges

Hawaii’s U.S. senators have announced their nominations to the military service academies, including Windward high school seniors who have survived a vigorous selection process.

“The men and women of the U.S. armed forces secure our daily liberties and make our country what it is,” said Sen. Brian Schatz. “This year’s nominees represent Hawaii’s best and brightest students.” Nominations do not guarantee appointments, however.

Students picked by both senators in the list below are indicated with an asterisk *.

Sen. Brian Schatz’s Windward nominees:

Shon Cagungun, Kristen Kadooka* and Sierra Jackson of Kalaheo High; Michael Compton* and Bradley Pierce* of Le Jardin Academy; Kalamaku Akiona of Kaneohe (Kamehameha), Matthew Beattie-Callahan of Kailua (Iolani), Hannah Boyce of Kaneohe (Punahou) and Kamuela Makue of Kailua (Kamehameha).

Sen. Mazie Hirono’s Windward nominees not listed above are Jason Evans, Andrew Drake and Gabriel Yarbrough of Kalaheo; Zachary Moore of Le Jardin Academy and Joseph Yokoi of Kaneohe (Kamehameha).
