Water Matters To Students

The 2015 Board of Water Supply Conservation Week poetry and poster winners, including six from West Oahu schools, will be on view May 19-28 at Kapolei Hale to convey the message that “Water Matters — Conserve It.”

“The entries reflected a solid understanding of and appreciation for our precious water resources,” stated BWS manager and chief engineer Ernest Lau, “resulting in impressive artistic expressions of ways we each can conserve it for generations to come.”

Winners were announced May 5 in ceremonies at Mission Memorial Auditorium.

Placing second were Lacy Texeira of Our Lady of Good Counsel (for grades 1-

2), Jade Tamashiro of Kapolei Middle (grades 5-6) and Francheska Manzano of Campbell High (grades 9-10).

Placing third were Jayden Vea De Vera of Holomua Elementary (grade K), Macceybelle Floresca of Ewa Elementary (grades 5-6) and Tatum Samson of Campbell High (grades 9-10).

All 24 winning entries and 18 honorable mentions also will be on view now through May 14 at Honolulu Hale’s Lane Gallery, June 1-25 at Windward Mall, and June 29-Aug. 14 in the BWS building lobby.
