Wardrobe Stylist Kyle Kagamida

Kyle Kagamida of Pearl City moved to Los Angeles six months ago to be a wardrobe stylist and has already built a resume of work with some of Hollywood’s most fashionable celebrities.

He’s helped to dress stars for various red carpet events such as the Golden Globes, People’s Choice Awards, SAG Awards, the Oscars and most recently the Met Ball. Some of the A-list clients he’s worked with include Jessica Alba, Katherine Heigl, Rachel Bilson, Kristen Bell, Demi Moore, Rashida Jones, Scarlett Johansson, Catherine Zeta Jones, Kristen Hager and James Maslow. He also styled actress Eloise Mumford for the April cover of HILuxury magazine.

Before moving to L.A., Kagamida worked in sales at Michael Kors and graduated from the Kapiolani Community College culinary arts program. But his interest was in fashion and he wanted work as a stylist in Hollywood so he pursued it. The 21-year-old credits his success to hard work, dedication and determination. “What’s next for me is hopefully continuing doing what I am right now, working with celebrities, doing red carpets and editorials, and live the dream I’ve dreamt for years now,” he says. “Lately I’ve been thinking about owning my own shoe company, but that’s really far into the future. I’m hoping my boss, Nicole Chavez, who owns ShoeMint with Rachel Bilson, will be able to help me out with that.” Featured here are looks styled by Kagamida and inspired by the style of Katherine Heigl (modeled by Brianna Acosta) and Jessica Alba (modeled by Darah Dung).

“Katherine’s style is very sophisticated and uptown New York chic,” explains Kagamida, who also worked with the actress on her press tour for One For The Money. “Jessica’s style is more of the downtown hipster mixed with uptown glamour. On her days off she loves nothing more than a good pair of jeans and a blazer or leather jacket, but for events she’s always in something glamorous.”
