Waimalu Shopping Center Turns 50

Waimalu Shopping Center celebrates its 50th anniversary from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 16 with a range of activities for the whole family.

The celebration features gift bags, keiki balloons and tattoos, a lion dance and live entertainment from Roy Sakuma Ukulele Studios and Somei Taiko. Honolulu Police Department also will be creating personalized ID cards for keiki, and guests will have the chance to win a Las Vegas trip package and other prizes.

Established in 1963, the center now features 35 retail shops and restaurants, including Kabuki Restaurant, Chun Wah Kam and Zippy’s.

“We are very excited to celebrate our 50th anniversary with our community,” stated center president Wallace Kazama. “We look forward to many more years of serving as a gathering place for friends and family.”

Waimalu Shopping Center is located at 98-020 Kamehameha Hwy. in Aiea. Free valet parking will be provided during the event.
