Kaneohe’s Albert Brum received the French Legion of Honor Medal July 16 at a Pearl Harbor ceremony to recognize his heroic 1944 jump into France with “Devil’s Brigade,” a Canadian-U.S. commando unit. A Canadian soldier at the time, Albert couldn’t sit still when other battles called. He re-enlisted for two tours of Korea, then deployed twice to Vietnam with U.S. Special Forces and finally retired here in 1972 as a colonel. Need I say more? I will: His son Scott has done eight tours in Iraq and Afghanistan …
