Kudos to Mililani High School, which came in second in the 2012 Shop and Score promotion, winning the Trojans a good share of the $250,000 statewide fund for athletic uniforms and equipment … Belated congratulations to recent Waialua graduate Khadija Karodia, who won a $5,000 Hawaii Rotary Youth Foundation Scholarship to support his studies at UC-Berkeley …

While we’re at it, the Hawaii State Library’s summer reading program for teens, “Own the Night,” gave prizes to some super readers from Central Oahu: Arielle Wilson (host Mililani Library), Keliam Brunn (Wahiawa Library) and Isaiah Hewitt (Waialua Library) … Mililani’s Shianti Leighton, a Kapiolani Community College student chef, was on the winning team with Lyn Agustin at the annual Art of Healthy-licious Cooking contest this fall, requiring chicken as the main ingredient. Their dish of chicken with sauted vegetables earned them each a $500 scholarship to KCC from the Kahala Nui retirement facility …

Outstanding Educator Awards for 2011-2012 have gone out to Oahu high school teachers from Pizza Hut and Oceanic Time Warner Cable.
