Christine is a cum laude graduate of Arizona State, is on the board of editors for the Hawaii Bar Journal, lectures at UH law school, has practiced in California and Palau, and got her JD from Santa Clara University …

Kudos to Mililani High School, which came in second in the 2012 Shop and Score promotion, winning the Trojans a good share of the $250,000 statewide fund for athletic uniforms and equipment … Belated congratulations to recent Waialua graduate Khadija Karodia, who won a $5,000 Hawaii Rotary Youth Foundation Scholarship to support his studies at UC-Berkeley …

While we’re at it, the Hawaii State Library’s summer reading program for teens, “Own the Night,” gave prizes to some super readers from Central Oahu: Arielle Wilson (host Mililani Library), Keliam Brunn (Wahiawa Library) and Isaiah Hewitt (Waialua Library) … Mililani’s Shianti Leighton, a Kapiolani Community College student chef, was on the winning team with Lyn Agustin at the annual Art of Healthy-licious Cooking contest this fall, requiring chicken as the main ingredient. Their dish of chicken with sauted vegetables earned them each a $500 scholarship to KCC from the Kahala Nui retirement facility …

Outstanding Educator Awards for 2011-2012 have gone out to Oahu high school teachers from Pizza Hut and Oceanic Time Warner Cable. Among them are Jennine Tosaka of Leilehua, Renesha Kierstedt of Mililani, Ian Cablay of Waialua and Jan Harney of Kahuku … Mililani’s Ginger Vidal and Jerick Abobo (Leilehua 2010) have graduated from Army National Guard basic training, Ginger at Fort Sill and Jerick at Fort Benning … Invasive slug fears means the Mike O’Brien family’s Norfolk Island pines and Leyland cypress trees at Helemano Farms are selling this year as far away as the Kailua and Kahala Mall Whole Foods stores
