This week in 1968: The Hawaii Five-0 pilot film makes its world premiere at the New Royal Theatre in Waikiki. At the premiere, Perry Lafferty, CBS television’s West Coast programming veep, announces that Hawaii Five-0 will become a CBS television series for the 1968-1969 season, and will be the first television series filmed entirely on location in Hawaii.
