Hawaii Theatre’s fifth annual free holiday concert, Na Mele O Na Keiki (Music for the Children), happens Sunday, Dec. 2. This year’s concert features the U.S. Marine Corps Forces Pacific Band performing holiday favorites with a variety of guest artists, including Henry Kapono, Ginai, Aidan James, Chris Vandercook, the Abrigo Ohana and Son Caribe. The concert is the Marine Corps’ gift to the community, and it’s an opportunity to support the Marine Corps Reserve’s Toys for Tots Hawaii effort …

This week in 1986: Whitney Houston makes her Hawaii concert debut with two sellouts at Blaisdell Arena, the last stop on her “The Greatest Love World Tour.” During her two-hour show, the 23-year-old recording star, accompanied by a seven-piece band and four backup singers, sings hits including You Give Good Love, How Will I Know, I Wanna Dance With Somebody, Saving All My Love For You and Greatest Love Of All. Tickets cost $22.50 and $17.50.
