Town Fair Offers Tips For Kailua Readiness

Preparing for the worst is the goal of a Sept. 27 town fair sponsored by Kailua Neighborhood Board.

The Emergency Preparedness Town Fair will be open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. that day at the Whole Foods Market parking lot, offering a wealth of emergency-response agencies, exhibits, demonstrations, a fire truck and “safety heroes” as special guests.

With dozens of participating vendors, area residents should come away with plenty of information to help them be prepared when disaster strikes, such as a flood, wildfire or serious storm. Manning the booths at the fair are insurance firms, hardware stores, medics, police, tsunami watchdogs, government emergency officials, nonprofits and military personnel.

Theme is “Be disaster aware, take action to prepare,” which fits with the fact that September is National Emergency Preparedness Month.
