Thumbs Up For Leahi Nursing Care

Leahi Hospital has earned high marks from Caregiverlist.com, a national online ranking service for nursing homes.

It gave the 164-bed Kaimuki facility a “4-plus” out of a possible five stars that measure quality of care and cost against 18,000 care homes across the country.

Leahi was the only nursing home in Honolulu to earn the 4-plus ranking, which considers government inspection reports, percentage of bedsores, ratio of CNA staff to patients, and percentage of long-term residents who need more help with daily activities. The star rating is the latest addition to its overall evaluations, the company stated.

Leahi originally opened in 1901 to care for tuberculosis patients, but has transitioned to a Hawaii Health Systems Corp. hospital certified for skilled nursing and intermediate care as well as the nursing home beds (155). Located at 3675 Kilauea Ave,. it also has adult day health services and continues TB care.
