Where and with whom did you see the movie?

I saw it with one of my best buddies (Jhon) at Koko Marina.

Overall what did you think?

In a summer chock full of superhero movies and animated films, it’s so refreshing to see an alternative R-rated comedy about a dude and his vulgar teddy bear.

Without giving away the ending, what was one of your favorite scenes?

Mark Wahlberg’s character decides to ditch his girlfriend to go to a party at Ted’s apartment, where an obscure ’80s celebrity peer pressures him into doing some out-of-control activities.

On a scale of one to four stars, what would you rate this film?

★★★. It’s everything you’d expect a film like this to be.

What did you think of the cinematography?

The lighting was a bit flat, but the CGI (computer-generated imagery) bear blended in well with the environment.

Was the message/theme clear?

Something about learning how to grow up and be a responsible adult. It was kind of lost among the foul language, toilet humor and pop culture references.

Did it remind you of any other work in film?

It’s basically a 1.5-hour-long episode of Family Guy complete with enough erratic pop culture references to satisfy any child who grew up in the ’80s.

To whom would you recommend this movie?

Anyone who is a fan of Family Guy/South Park humor; definitely not for the easily offended.

Did any of the actors stand out?

Giovanni Ribisi surprised me as the film’s incredibly creepy villain.

Did you identify with any of the characters?

I identify with Mark Wahlberg’s character quite literally.

I have a reputation of being the local filmmaker who features puppets in his movies. So, naturally, this movie attracted me.

Did the soundtrack contribute significantly to the film?

Director Seth MacFarlane really has a taste for orchestral jazz, as it is used prominently throughout the film’s score.

Would you buy this movie when it comes out on DVD?

Not DVD … Blu-ray! In a heartbeat!

What’s your favorite movie snack?

Goobers. You know, the little chocolate-covered peanuts.

On a different note, what’s new with you?

I’m currently directing, writing, producing and composing the music for a new short film called Poison Apple, which tells the story of Snow White through the point of view of the infamous apple. And, yes, there are puppets in it. facebook.com/papplemovie
