Surfriders’ Sweeper Trevor Tam Stands Out

Although just a junior, Kailua High School sweeper Trevor Tam already is a seasoned veteran for the Surfriders boys soccer team. Indeed, Tam has been in the starting lineup every game (when healthy).

“Most of the defense is from my HISA team (Warriors), so we already know how each other plays,” said Tam, who was a Second Team Oahu Interscholastic Association All-Conference selection last season.

With 16 returnees, Kailua figures to field one of the most experienced units in the OIA in 2013-14.

“We’re looking for big things from Trevor,” Kailua head coach Steve Dignam said.

Kailua was to open the season against Pac-Five Tuesday before turning its attention to a home date Saturday with Punahou.

Tam took some time away from the practice field to visit with MidWeek‘s Windward Oahu Islander.
