Season For Rejuvenation

The holidays are such a fun time at Ho’ala Salon & Spa at Ala Moana Center.

Guests are getting their hair, makeup and nails done, others are taking a break with a massage and facial in our private spa, and shoppers are purchasing Ho’ala gift cards and Aveda holiday gift sets for loved ones.

I have worked in the salon and spa industry for more than 20 years, almost exclusively with Aveda, and have my hairdresser’s license and a Bachelor of Arts in business administration. In January 2010, my husband, Michael, and I took the leap and became proud owners of our very own 5,000-square-foot Aveda Lifestyle Salon & Spa at Ala Moana Center.

Ho’ala means “to awaken” in Hawaiian. Our 60-member team constantly strives to offer guests a rejuvenating experience like no other, a reawakening of the senses, an oasis, a feeling of well-being.

Our core guests are professional men and women age 25-55, but we have provided services for guests from 3 to 93. We have been delighted to see the percentage of male customers growing steadily each year. They usually start by accompanying their wives or girlfriends “just for fun,” and end up as loyal guests on their own.

They quickly realize that they deserve the Ho’ala level of service, too.

Our goal is excellent service – and nothing less.

That means providing a place of aloha, comfort, and trust for our guests. It means maintaining clean and beautiful facilities. It means our guests come first, and that we continually strive for excellence in our interaction with them, in our services, follow-up and education.

For example, we always keep up with the latest trends and remain on the cutting edge of hair care and color.

Recently, we launched a new digital perm service very different from what other local salons offer. Right now, one of our most popular hair services is Ombré hair color-the gradation of darker roots to lighter ends

Our efforts have been recognized by numerous awards within the industry and by local media, including being named “Best” by Star-Advertiser and MidWeek, and featured in national media Glamour and American Salon.

We continue to live the Aveda mission: “To care for the world we live in, from the products we make to the ways in which we give back to society.”

We use Aveda products exclusively, and coordinate and participate in fundraisers that promote earth-saving activities and organizations, and implement environmentally friendly practices daily.
