Remember The Oahu General Plan? It’s Back

City planners will conduct their third community meeting on the Oahu General Plan Jan. 14 in Kaneohe to discuss proposed changes.

The meeting is set for 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Castle High School cafeteria, with registration starting at 6 p.m.

The city Department of Planning and Permitting and its consultant, Helber Hastert & Fee, will give an overview of the Public Review Draft Plan and answer questions from the public.

The plan, originally adopted in 1977, offers objectives, policies, long-range goals of residents and strategies to achieve them. It affects quality of life issues, ranging from agriculture and traffic to directed population growth and development controls.

Hearings will be held later this year by the Planning Commission and City Council, and comments will be accepted until April 15 at gp2035@hhf.com, by fax at 545-2050, or by mail: 733 Bishop St. Suite 2590, Honolulu, HI 96813.
