Pro Bowler Hosts Golf Tourney For Wounded

The Pro Bowl may have been Jan. 26, but Jared Allen, a defensive end for the Minnesota Vikings and a five-time Pro Bowl pick, hopes to channel remaining football fever into, of all things, a golf tournament.

Allen will host the inaugural Helping Heroes Hawaii Golf & Gala at Turtle Bay Resort Feb. 20-22 to raise funds for his nonprofit Homes for Wounded Warriors, which seeks to provide handicap-accessible homes for wounded veterans.

Proceeds from this event will likely support Hawaii-based veterans in need.

The fundraiser includes activities over three days, such as spa treatments, hiking, cocktail receptions and a foursome golf tournament. Local couples can expect to pay $4,000 for the three-day package (singles pay $2,000). A la carte tickets for the gala or golf tourney also can be purchased for $750 ($375 with military ID).
