Powered Bikes Now In Kailua

Have you ever ridden an electric bicycle before? Now area residents have the chance to try or buy one at Pedego Kailua, which opened recently on Hahani Street.

Electric bicycles have integrated electric motors that propel riders, but they can still be pedaled via old-fashioned manpower, just like ordinary bikes. Pedego Kailua’s bikes can go as fast as 20 mph and normally last between 20-30 miles on one charge.

Bikes are customizable depending on client specifications as well.

The store, which opened in October, is offering free test rides to anyone interested in trying the electric experience. The business focuses on electric bike rentals, sales and guided tours around Lanikai Beach and Kawainui Marsh, among other places.

“We are very pleased with the support and response that the local residents and businesses have shown us in introducing a very eco-friendly green solution to reducing traffic and carbon emissions in Kailua,” stated Mark Libre, owner of Pedego Kailua and a Kailua resident.

“For many, it’s like being a teenager again, and it’s amazing to see so many people having so much fun!”

The shop is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily at 319 Hahani St.
