Centennial Gala

Tonight’s event honors Honolulu’s 100 Most Influential Citizens in the last 100 years, as part of the City and County’s 100th birthday celebration. Royal Hawaiian Band, Nina Keliiwahamana, Society of Seven, Jasmine Trias, Azure McCall and Willy K are among the evening’s entertainers. Dinner is prepared by Hawaii’s celebrity chefs. (275-3030)

Grizzly Man

Doris Duke Theatre, at Honolulu Academy of Arts, use Kinau Street entrance, Thursday, Friday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Friday and Sunday 1 p.m., Friday and Sunday 4 p.m., $7 general, $6 military and seniors. The film “Grizzly Man” begins airing today. The documentary, made by amateur grizzy bear expert and wildlife preservationist Timothy Treadwell, details his story of living unarmed among bears for 13 summers until he was discovered dead in Oct. 2003 from a grizzly bear attack at Alaska’s Katmai National Park and Reserve. Kismet Opens

Richardson Theatre, Fort Shafter, call for show times, adults $15-$20, children $12-$15. Today the Army Community Theatre presents the opening of the classic Broadway musical, “Kismet.” Enjoy this crazy Arabian tale of Haji, Marsinah, Wazir of Police and the Wazir’s wife of wives. On The Spot

The Filipino Community Center, 94-428 Mokuola St., 8 p.m., $10 at the door. Local improv troupe, On The Spot performs an outrageously funny collection of scenes from former shows live tonight.
