Orchid Show To Open Friday

The Kunia Orchid Society will sponsor its 58th annual Kunia Orchid Show March 16-18 at Leilehua High School’s Paul T. Kobayashi Gymnatorium.

The show runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. There is a $2 donation entrance fee.

Twenty-two vendors will sell orchids of all varieties, as well as other plants, until 3 p.m. on all three days.

Ewa Orchid Society will showcase its first display at the orchid show this year and, along with the Honolulu and Aiea Orchid societies and Mililani Orchid Club, will display its best blooming orchids on the floor.

A memorial display will be dedicated to five club members who passed away in 2011.

Also exhibiting are Sogetsu Hawaii Ikebana, Honolulu Rainbow Bonsai, Miniature Japanese Mountain Tea House Retreat, Honohono/Vanilla/Cacao Information Table and President’s Circle.

In honor of the new year, the 2,012th visitor who enters the show will receive a basket of blooming orchid plants.

In addition to the displays, Leilehua High School Athletics will sell kiawe barbecue chicken, and other school clubs will man booths in front of the gym.
