In 2010, swimsuit designer Jade Powers decided to make her dream a reality and launched OMG Swimwear, specializing in custommade swimsuits.
“We cater to women who know what they want,” explains Powers, 33. “And we do just that by customdesigning every suit to fit a woman’s body perfectly. We design for the everyday woman as well as for beauty pageants and competitions.”
Powers, who was born in Laos and raised in Hawaii, is a mother of three and attends Heald Business College, where she earned an associate degree in nursing and is now pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business management.
“My inspiration for my swimsuits is that I listen to women and I hear what they want,” she says. “I believe that shopping for bikinis shouldn’t be difficult, it should be fun.”
Featured here are some of OMG Swimwear’s newest designs modeled by some of the contestants in the Miss Latina Hawaii pageant taking place Feb. 11 at 6 p.m. at Mamiya Theatre. The Miss Latina Hawaii Scholarship Pageant is a preliminary pageant for the Miss Hawaii Pageant. Tickets are $20 (advance) or $25 (at the door) and can be purchased by calling 2850072.
