‘Olelo Names Video Winners

Four entries from West Oahu video teams made it to the winner’s circle in the 2015 ‘Olelo Youth Xchange Video Competition, which announced all winners May 4.

Receiving high-definition Sony digital video cameras for being judged the best in their divisions were the following area schools, followed by category and title.

• Ewa Makai Middle School — Meth: Not Even Once, The Meth Effect

• Ewa Makai Middle School — The Value of Water, Drip Drip Drop

• Alvah Scott Elementary School — News: Newscast About Our Superhero

Pearl Ridge Elementary School — Start Living Healthy: PE Does A Body Good

Area semifinalists were Pearl Ridge Elementary (Bullying), Waipahu Elementary (Bottles, Down, Thumbs Down, Be a Jerk and Shower Less or Be Showerless), Waimalu Elementary (Stomp Cyber Bullying and Racism), Webling Elementary (Malama the ‘Aina, Drive Smart, Ride Safe and Healthy Hearts = Happy Hearts), Waikele Elementary (Be Safe When You Drive);

Also, Waipahu Intermediate (L Building, One Connection and Conserve Water), Ewa Makai Middle (P.E. -Powerful Education), Waipahu High (A Surprise Encounter and A.C.B.A.V.O.D.V.), Aiea High (Kindness is Contagious and Musical Nightmare) and Kapolei High (Special Needs Screenprinting).
