Ocean Fest Set For June 6 At North Shore Resort

Turtle Bay Resort is going all out for its fourth annual North Shore Ocean Fest, set for 11 a.m.-4 p.m. June 6 at its Bay View Beach Lawn.

“This celebration of ocean education and sustainability continues to grow each year, drawing hundreds of participants from around Oahu,” said Ocean Fest coordinator Dotty Kelly- Paddock. “This year’s Ocean Fest will be our best yet.”

Attendees can expect exhibits and activities around the theme “Protect Our Ocean Wildlife,” as well as films, a treasure hunt, silent auction, live music, hula, prize drawings, crafts and food vendors.

Student art and poetry also will be on display.

While the free Saturday festivities might be geared toward the youth, there are still a few adult-oriented events on the agenda. Ocean Ramsey and Juan Oliphant of One Ocean Diving talk story with the public about the group’s conservation efforts from 7 to 9 p.m. June 3 at Surfer, The Bar.

Then, Ola Restaurant hosts a Beach Party Benefit and Art Show from 5 to 9 p.m. June 5, featuring live entertainment from Kids in Plain Sight (5-7 p.m.) and DJ SuperCW (7-9 p.m.), art from Erik Abel and Colleen Wilcox, a beach bonfire, drink specials, food and more.

Suggested donation at the door for both events is $5.

The fundraiser, which also commemorates World Oceans Day, supports North Shore Ocean Education Coalition in its mission to educate North Shore students about the ocean and its marine life, in hopes of promoting oceanic conservation and restoration.
